K10.8 million approved to pay APEC allowances

FINANCE Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan has approved the immediate release of K10.8 million into the personal accounts of members of the disciplinary forces in overtime allowances during the APEC meeting.

Dr Ngangan said the money was already parked at the Bank South Pacific and the next K10.8 million will be paid next week.

“The warrants for allowances has been released and the budget management team that decides on weekly cash flows met today and resolved to sort out half of the total allowance this week and half next week,” he said.

“We have now processed K10.8m being half of the total allowances payable and is awaiting payment into officers’ bank accounts. BSP is now waiting for JSTF operations to provide list of personnel bank accounts details for funds to be paid direct into their bank accounts.

“The other K10.8m will be paid early next week. All outstanding service providers for APEC will also be sorted out.

APEC has just concluded and we ask for everyone’s patience while to arrange settlement of all outstandings.

“This morning after the JSTF personnel’s had demanded their superiors of their allowances be paid immediately, I had in the presence of my Deputy Secretary-Operations had a meeting with the Police Minister Jelta Wong and the ACP Operations David Manning assuring them that all allowances for the personnel’s will be paid.

APEC has just concluded and we are about to sort out outstanding claims including allowances.”
