Halia, Haku road needs upgrade
The 35 kilometres of road from Hagus village in the Halia constituency to Lontis village in Haku constituency of North Bougainville needs urgent maintenance.
There are large craters in the middle of road in every section and this is making it unbearable for the daily commuters.
PMV owners from Haku constituency have been hit hard with continuous maintenance of their vehicles and have had to spend more on keeping their vehicles operating to serve the people.
Daryl Hanette said the 20 kilometres road upgrade and sealing from Hagus village in Halia constituency to Pitono village in Haku constituency was launched for work to start but the expectations of the people of a sealed road is still in vain.
Mr Hanette is calling on the government to fast track any payments to the contractor, ‘Raibro Construction’ so that they can start work as reports from the company state that they are waiting on payments to start.
“The ABG members for both constituencies must work together so that development takes place to ease the pain of riding on the bumpy unbearable road that has not been maintained this year as we are nearing the Christmas period,” said Mr Hanette.
