Promoting students with good leadership in schools is a way forward apart from academic excellence.
A senior sales manager for the country’s largest car dealer Ela Motors, John Woti raised this concern at the Papen Lutheran Primary School graduation in Anglimp, Jiwaka Province. Mr Woti said primary and secondary schools have to embrace the leadership potential of students.“This country recently bumped into a serious leadership crises recently which consequently reflects on the poor performance in our government systems, businesses and communities,” he said. Former secretary for Lutheran agencies in Jiwaka and Western Highlands provinces Ludi Goi also said school is where we train future leaders and not just intellects.
“Students who passed out from various levels of institutions must be trained to be leaders not only in their careers but in their respective communities too,” he said.Mr Goi praised the teachers and school administration to put in place the leadership award. He also expressed gratitude towards Mr Woti for the sponsorship of the leadership award – a laptop. A grade eight student, Alfred Atep is the proud recipient of the leadership award.
