Triple header in opening NSL comp
By KEVIN TEME
The 2019 National Soccer League is set to kick off with triple header matches to be played in both Southern and Northern Conferences.
In the Southern Conferences leg of the NSL, the test for supremacy in the main game between MRDC Hekari United Football Club and Bougainville FC will be the highlight of the triple header while in Lae, OFC Champion league bound Toti City FC and Morobe Wawens will be put to test by Morobe United FC and Besta PNG FC respectively.
Much is at stake for all the partipcating franchises in this new concept of the NSL with top two teams from the respective four conferences including the Highlands and Niugini Islands qualify for a home and away finals later this year.
With the Highlands and Niugini Islands conference set to kick off in two weeks time, this weekend’s opening matches of the NSL for Southern and Northern is set to be a blockbuster.
Certainly fans, supporters and even stakeholders of football have been waiting for this moment which starts at 10am at the PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby while in Lae, all three matches will be held at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium while Madang will also host one game between Tusbab Stallion FC and Laiwaden FC.
The return of former NSL Champions Hekari United FC will certainly put up the challenge and for new kid on the block Bougainville FC to open its season against the men in red is certainly going down as a test for supremacy.
