Deliveryman charged with stealing, absconds court
BY DAPHNE WANI
A delivery truck driver charged with stealing of more than K2000 worth of groceries intended for a supermarket in Port Moresby has failed to appear at the Waigani Committal Court.
The accused, Dick Kohn, 59, from Chuave, Chimbu province, was employed by City Pharmacy Limited as a delivery truck driver.
Kohn’s case was adjourned by magistrate Cosmas Bidar to February 18 so that he could be formally arraigned.
Police allege that on January 16, the delivery truck was loaded with three pallets of goods to be delivered to Stop N Shop at Boroko.
Mr Kohn allegedly failed to deliver the items packed in the third pallet and only gave two dockets for two pallets to the docket master at the shop.
He allegedly kept the third pallet for himself.
He was asked to return the remaining pallet to the warehouse in Badili but he allegedly drove to his house at 5-Mile ridge, where he unloaded the goods for his own consumption.
He was apprehended on January 21. Kohn’s case was adjourned to February 18.
