Baing is new KPHL chair
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has welcomed the appointment of Andrew Baing as the new chairman of Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited.
The appointment is effective for a three-year term.
Mr Baing replaces Sir Moi Avei, who retired from the KPHL board in October 2018.
In welcoming the new chairman, Mr O’Neill who is the Trustee of KPHL said Mr Baing brings to the board substantial experience in the government and business sectors.
“Andrew Baing is a very experienced statesman, having held numerous ministerial positions over many years, including deputy prime minister.
“Outside of politics, he has honed his business acumen, and will be a strong leader for Kumul Petroleum,” he said.
“This is essential at this critical time for the oil and gas sector in PNG and our market position in an evolving global economy.
“The oil and gas industry is entering the next phase of developments in our country, and this will lead to ongoing growth for Kumul Petroleum. As Kumul Petroleum becomes bigger and stronger, managing this process must be carried out in an extremely sensitive and highly strategic manner.
“Andrew Baing is the right man to lead and guide our nation’s petroleum company through this growth and expansion, returning greater benefits for the people of Papua New Guinea.”
