The aura of APEC is still relevant today, says Elliot

ANZ Bank Group CEO Shayne Elliot said the hosting of APEC has shined a spotlight on Papua New Guinea that is still relevant still since the November event last year.
“One of the other things I observed I think is that APEC, that conference here did put a spotlight on the country,” he said.
“I know it did cost a lot of money and there is debate all on that but it has sort of opened up people’s eyes to the opportunity here that people probably weren’t aware of.
“Like me we have a dated view, like many companies around the world would have an outdated view of Papua New Guinea.
“We probably haven’t kept up and don’t understand what is happening and things like APEC and even the transaction like the gas deal that will shine a bit of light and give opportunity to reassess those.”
