Temai thanks PM and people of Simbu
New Simbu provincial administrator Michael Bal Temai has thanked the National Executive Council and the Simbu provincial executive council for exercising resolute confidence in him.
He particularly thanked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for having faith in entrusting the job to him ahead of other qualified Simbu’s who also vied.
Mr Temai also applauded the people of Simbu for ensuring an orderly transition despite rumours of upheaval and disturbances during the weeks leading up to his appointment.
“I want to specially thank my predecessor, Joe Kunda Naur and his supporters for gracefully accepting the decision of the NEC, the highest appointing authority in the land,” he said.
Mr Temai said the behaviour of the Simbu people goes to show their maturity and faith in the legally sanctioned systems in place.
“I was an officer under Mr Kunda for many years and he prepared me to become provincial administrator. I am grateful for his support and will do my best to carry on from where he left.”
Mr Temai observed that most public servants in the province were loyal to Mr Kunda because the latter was in office for more than 15 years.
“Regardless of your loyalty, the change is only at the top level and I am not here to do wholesale changes to the administration. Your collective efforts have ensured Simbu rated top in service delivery for many years and I am going to ensure this is maintained under my administration,” he told public servants during the swearing-in ceremony at the Kondom Agaundo building last week.
Mr Temai further acknowledged that public servants were divided with some accepting the change while others have not, but he urged them to report to their workstations and get on with performing their duties unhindered.
He also urged those in possession of vehicles, computers and others assets of the administration to voluntarily return them.
