Former cop Kuruwa freed
TURI Kuruwa, the former cop panel beaten by a group of drunk off-duty policeman in Morata in September, won a significant battle against police brutality today.
At 11am this morning, Kuruwa was discharged by the Boroko District Court on 4 charges brought against him by the same policemen who beat him unconscious 2 days before independence.
An elated Kuruwa posted on his FB account: True justice was served for me this morning at Boroko District Court by Magistrate Laura KUVI when she handed down her decision at 11:00am.
She DISMISSED all the five charges that was levelled against me and said that I was innocent and am free to go now. She added that my bail money will be refunded.
Shocked and dumbfounded rogue policemen walked out of the courtroom with gloomy faces anticipating the fate that awaits them.
