Kaupa challenges govt to help private schools in the city
Moresby North East MP John Kaupa has challenged the Government to assist private schools that are struggling to promote and provide quality education.
This is especially so for children that are desperate for a second chance to pursue their education.
Mr Kaupa’s remarks were in response to the principal of PIMS’s request challenging the government to assist private schools.
Mr Kaupa, who is also a government minister said it is about time the government looks for ways to help private schools.
He said if we want to acknowledge and applaud them for running a private school, we must also assist them with important facilities.“I would like to thank the management and the staff for bringing this school this far. As an elected member I have been challenged to assist because a private institution that has been running for over 20 years is something that we must recognise,” he said.“Its private, but they strive in giving education to the unfortunate ones and then bringing them up and boosting them is very important,” he said.He will also be sponsoring 50 students from his electorate next year to study at the private school.
