Paga Panthers will lock horns with Erima Wanderers in a bumper NCD Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup (CCIC) quarterfinal opener at the PNG Football Stadium this Saturday.
CCIC southern manager Simon Maima yesterday confirmed that the 2016 champions will be put to the acid test by an equally strong Erima outfit to open a huge day of action at 9am.
Maima said the Panthers who are the early favorites to claim the Gold Pass, have the experience to do the job but will find the latter a tough hurdle to negotiate.
The Panthers topped Pool A while Wanderers were second in Pool B.
In the next match, 54 Bears who were second in Pool A will play Pool B winners D8 Mosquitoes, who are coming off a strong 12-6 win over the 9-Mile Giants on
Sunday.
This will be followed by Okuk 5-Mile Watchdogs, winners of Pool C against Border Storm, who finished second in Pool D, then the last quarterfinal is set to be a fiery encounter between 6-Mile Tigers and Tia Broncos at midday to finalise the final four to play in the semi-final later that afternoon.
Maima also confirmed that the Central leg finals will also be played con-currently, after their round of matches on Thursday and Friday.
“So basically the finals for both NCD and Central to decide the two Gold Passes to enter the next stage will be decided on Saturday.” Maima added.
