A 22-year-old man from Romarom village in Buang, Morobe Province, is facing court on charges of attempted murder after he stabbed a man in the chest with a broken bottle on Christmas day.
According to police reports, the accused, Roger Silas, was drinking homebrew with his friends at the 8 Mile Morobe Block on Christmas day when they were joined by the complainant, Berry Sakora.
After a while an argument erupted in the group and a fight ensued, after which the group dispersed.
However, Mr Sakora returned a while later with three other boys and tried to pick a fight with the accused.
At which point the accused picked up a broken SP beer bottle from the ground and stabbed the complainant in the chest.
The bottle was believed to have penetrated the victims’ chest, causing him to bleed heavily and he was rushed to the hospital.
Although medical reports have yet to be conducted to establish the extent of the damage caused by the bottle, reports have confirmed that victim survived the ordeal and is currently receiving medical attention for his wounds.
