APEC gets rugby league

NOVEMBER’S Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO summit in Port Moresby has paved the way for rugby league to prosper.
This is evident with yesterday’s signing of a memorandum of understanding between Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League and PNG Health Assurance Company Limited (PHA).
Present at the signing was PNGRFL chairman Sandis Tsaka, chief executive officer Reatau Rau, PHA’s executive director Pradeep Soni and Lois Oppong of Fullerton Group.
Mr Rau said the summit provided the opportunity for them to meet key stakeholders, including PHA.
Mr Rau said APEC had a good outcome for PNG rugby league and the inclusion of PHA into team Kumul funding was a significant step for the next five years.
PHA is a general insurer targeting health care, personal accident and workers compensation products.
The signing of formal agreement by the end of next month would see PHA becoming the first insurance partner of PNGRFL.
