Training is a boosting factor for SP PNG Hunters new recruits currently in the pre-season training squad.
The opportunity given by SP PNG Hunters coach Michael Marum and the rest of the coaching staff mainly focuses on filling in the loopholes for key positions in the team.
Hela Wigmen’s five-eight and former Mendi Muruks skipper Jerry Teme is one of the candidates who fits the criteria of directing play.
Teme and the rest of the 32-man train-on squad has been working tirelessly in training as they await the final squad announced which is expected before the end of
this month.
“I feel confident and have the faith that they (coaching staff) have given us the opportunity to join the team,” Teme said.
“One thing is that training will only prove our fitness and through training will guarantee a spot in the full team.”
Teme reflected on the SP Hunters team culture as very different from the club level in the Digicel Cup competition.
He said they are up to date with training and this has changed many of them especially the new players.
The team culture is settling in and players including the coaching staff were seen communicating and directing each other on the getting the basics right.
For a player like Teme and the other youngsters in the team it depends on their commitment, fitness, leadership including other qualities required to make the final team.
“The advice I give to myself is to be patient, disciplined and be focus to work hard in achieving dreams ahead,” Teme said.
