Kieta teachers complete curriculum training
Primary school teachers from schools in the Kieta district completed a weeklong in-service training on the new standard-based curriculum (SBC) at the Tupukas primary school last week.
The in-service training was the first for the teachers as per the new SBC system which now replaces the outcome-based education (OBE) system under the directives of the national government and was sponsored by Bougainville Copper Limited. A total of 118 teachers from 18 schools in the district attended the training workshop. New SBC learning materials including textbooks and teachers’ guides were handed over to the schools through their head teachers.Senior professional assistant (SPA) literacy, Janet Taiko, was in attendance at the workshop to monitor and also get a feedback from teachers on their challenges and other issues related to implementation of the SBC system at the respective schools.
