Taxi operator vows to enforce traffic rules

A taxi management service provider in the nations capital has big plans to enforce company laws as well as traffic rules and regulations. In celebrating the company’s second year anniversary, Airport Transport Service chairman and director Wingti Mara revealed this during the celebrations on Sunday.
Mr Mara said that now that the company has strongly to strengthen the company’s laws as well as the rules and regulations set by Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited. He said that there are some things that a driver and an operator are banned from doing in the vehicle.
“Drivers and operators, be warned that beer, smoke and betelnut chewing is totally banned in the vehicle,” said Mr Mara while addressing the drivers and operators present at the celebrations. “You can chew betel nut, smoke and drink beer outside the vehicle but never inside the vehicle.”
Mr Mara said that as the manager of the vehicles that bears the red and yellow color of the company these things are forbidden in the vehicle. “When you came to us to paint and register your company, you are married to me so my rules are your rules.” He said that drivers when caught breaking these rules or any traffic rules will be warned twice.
However, he said that the third time, the operators will be asked to change the driver. “We will be monitoring the drivers to see if they can abide by the traffic rules as well as the company’s laws and policies.” Mr Mara said. “If the operators don’t want to change the driver as advised than we are sorry but we will be forced to terminate the contract between the operator and the company.”
He added that no singlet and dreadlocks are allowed by the drivers.
“You have to dress up properly and love what you do,” he said. “All of us play an important role, even taxi drivers too.”
