Alfred Manasseh appointed as acting Attorney General

A formal appointment for the Minister for Justice and Attorney General will be made next week.
This follows the resignation by Esa’ala MP Davis Steven as minister.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill announced on Saturday that the Member for Kandep and Minister for Civil Aviation, Hon. Alfred Manasseh is appointed as the Acting Minister for Justice and Attorney General.
In making the announcement, the Prime Minister said this Cabinet portfolio is highly important for public and business sector governance, and Alfred Manasseh has the requisite experience.
“Minister Manasseh has a strong legal background and a comprehensive knowledge of critical issues in the justice system,” the Prime Minister said.
“The Minister for Justice and Attorney General is a senior Cabinet position and we must ensure continuity ahead of the formal Ministerial appointment.
“Minister Manasseh will maintain the steady hand and reforms undertaken by the honourable Davis Steven.”
