Eagles win back to back title

The Niugini Islands Insurance Brokers sponsored Brown Eagles soar high with a back to back title victory defeating Defence 10-nil in Port Moresby Men’s softball A grade grand final on Saturday at Bisini diamond one.
The win will surely go down in the history books for the nation’s capital mens competition including the club. It took only the first inning of play for Eagles to stamp their mark on the batting mound with runs scored by Consie Lumaris, Tyron Paivu and Pedro Kulukul.
Defence fielding led by pitcher/catcher combination of Mosley Obed and Lepan Maradi with support from fellow infielders managed to hold off Eagles in the second and third innings of play. Their skipper Kepas Mormor stood up with good batting however the latter did not go in their favor as the remaining batters were denied securing base by Eagles quick fielding plays.
Eagles hurler and top award winning pitcher of the grand final Kolish Pagal maintained consistency on the pitching mound with the support from catcher Kulukul, infielders Lumaris, Paivu, Bernard ToAlbert, Peter Bunbun and their outfielders.
The latter saw Defence coming up with good performance on the batting mound including their fielding as well.
At the commencement of fifth inning, Eagles still led with five runs and they extended their lead by scoring another five runs. Central umpire Tony Simatab called game over making reference to the run ahead rule after Defence fail to score a run at the completion of bottom fifth.
Meanwhile Lamana Hotel sponsored Yokomo also had a history win claiming the minor premiership and B grade champions defeating Anti Pest sponsored United Brothers 4-3. They clearly stamped their mark as B grade title holders with two runs scored by Donald Chan while Benji Tonga and Darren Morodu scored the other two runs.
Runs scored, Eagles 10 (Consie Lumaris 2, Tyron Paivu, Manu ToAlbert, Pedro Kulukul, Kolish Pagal, Graham Kinavai and Bernard ToAlbert 2) defeating Defence 0.
