Alonk urged to convene electoral boundaries meet

INTERGOVERNMENT Relations Minister Kevin Isifu has asked Middle Ramu MP Jonny Alonk to convene an audience on the local level and ward boundaries issues in his electorate.
Mr Alonk in Parliament during Question Time this week questioned and tasked Minister Isifu to explain and update on the issue of ward boundaries. He also suggested that the Government must look into these areas and come up with the strategies so they can cater for the ward people, electorate and national boundaries.
Mr Isifu explained that there is a National Boundaries Commission that looks after and decides on new electorates in PNG which also includes wards, local level, district and provincial boundaries.
“There is an Organic Law on this….. and there are also processes to create additional wards but please come see me and we discuss further on this, and also discuss a way forward at the same time, I want to say that plenty provinces have asked about these matters,” he said.
Isifu said apart from the National Boundaries Commission, he can provide explanation not only to Middle Ramu but to other provincial governments and the MPs.
