The Australian Federal Police policing partnership program with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary is about fighting crime as well as protecting PNG families against violence.
It is everything imaginable in the police role to protect and ensure safety of the people is adhered in order to improve and create healthy family living standards.
These were the messages from the two joint partnership forces.
The first awareness of violence against women conducted in Lae by the AFP officers over the years has seen positive outcomes.
Hundreds normally gather to show their respect and say no to violence against women at the main Lae metro police station and is also expected to the same this year.
This time it would be bigger, according to the two authorities.
Lae AFP and RPNGC officers during a recent awareness in Lae early last year addressed the general public to take full responsibility in developing good leadership within their families and this year will be about touching and changing lives of their families.
Women were also told to be responsible and report any matter which is affecting their family lives for first-hand protection and legal actions.
According to the AFP’s policing partnership program department, it is doing everything from training to building and renovations of police infrastructure and welfare.
One of the most important components of the program is to take leadership in developing and conducting awareness on violence against women in the country.
The establishment of the program in 2013 was successfully considered by the Australian Institute of Police Management to address issues contradicting to human rights.
The importance of the program was assessed after six months of statistical research and survey conducted by the RPNGC with the AIPM.
However, to this day, violence against women is a worldwide issue and women should not keep to themselves on what needs to be done on their behalf for justice to take effect.
The RPNGC has also confirmed to conduct awareness within the city areas to inform the general public on the consequences and charges for violating human rights in the coming months.
