A SECURITY guard has been acquitted of the alleged rape of a six-year-old girl at Laloki, Central Province, by the National Court at Bomana yesterday.

Kuman Ole, 56, from Chimbu Province, was freed after a three-year court battle in an attempt to prove his innocence.

Justice Panuel Mogish found him not guilty of sexual touching and rape of the girl on April 11, 2016.

Justice Mogish ruled that the evidence by the State witnesses were inconsistent and ordered that the court could not use their evidence against the alleged offender.

He said the witnesses were not credible witnesses.

Police alleged that the offender, while working as a security guard of a security firm in Central Province, had lured girls with lollies and seduced them.

Police alleged that the victims were girls aged five to six years, who were easily lured with candies.

The court heard that Ole had lured the victims using “lollies” and when she came close to him had asked her to sit on his lap and he sexually touched her private parts and later raped her.

The court found no consistent evidence between the victim’s statement.

This includes her mother’s testimony and as a result dismissed the case. Ole was free to go and Justice Mogish further ordered that his bail money be refunded to
him.
