BSP hit by electronic banking outage
Bank South Pacific experienced a system fault with its electronic banking channels – EFTPoS, ATMs, Mobile Banking and Online Banking on Sunday morning.
BSP customers took to social networking sites venting their frustration on not being able to make transactions via the bank’s electronic offerings.
BSP general manager (Retail) Paul Thornton, in a statement yesterday, said: “The system fault commenced early on Sunday morning and has unfortunately continued during the day.
“Our technical staff, with the assistance of our major system vendors, worked to resolve the problem.
“We recognise that the outage caused considerable inconvenience for our customers and merchants and we apologies for this.”
At around 3.40pm BSP released an update that ATM and EFTPoS services were restored.
There were other unconfirmed reports that indicated two other major banks were also experiencing similar outages to their systems.
