New Zealand’s support to PNG targets priority areas
Key priority services are of paramount importance to the New Zealand government’s continues Aid support.
This was addressed by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern during her official visit to the newly constructed Gordons market in Port Moresby.
“If you see from New Zealand’s track records, we have been here for a long time,” said Ms Ardern.
“Things like electricity; agriculture contributes to the ongoing prosperity of the people and really boosts their economy as well.”
The Prime Minister admits it is up to each individual country on how they wish to work alongside the government.
“As you can see the government’s efforts to putting up this market will make a huge difference,” she said.
She said New Zealand has been in the new energy generation in Papua New Guinea. The Prime Minister also reiterated on how the new market will benefit local people.
“It (market) provides safe place for women.”
