Five armed criminals with high powered rifles and dressed in police issued mobile squad camouflage uniforms robbed Almondina Investment Limited supermarket in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands Province on Sunday morning.

The criminals drove through the back gate and went upstairs to where the expatriate shop owners were staying and demanded their work permits, passports and firearms with licenses.

The criminals took K22,000 collected from the supermarket, restaurant, barber shop and travel agency. They also took K5000 worth of flex cards, mobile phones and other items.

They also took a licensed Sig pistol firearm worth K17,000 with 36 full loaded cartridges (.9mil) and two magazines.

The total value of money and items stolen from the supermarket was K50,000, including the K2000 spent to pay the criminals for the return of all passports, visas, work permits and other documents.
