Do not drink water from the river, health workers tell Mul-Baiyer
BY PEARSON KOLO
THE people of Mul-Baiyer in the Western Highlands have been warned not to drink water from rivers because of the increase in diarrhoea and typhoid in the area.
Health workers from Tinsley District Hospital in the district said this during an awareness last week after the district reported an increase in typhoid and diarrhoea cases.
Tinsley health officer Benjamin Malubuwa said that people were disposing wastes like baby diapers, other rubbish and even faeces into the rivers, making it unhygienic for people to drink and use water for other daily uses.
“The health officers have discovered huge waste disposals on the sources of rivers like Walo and Laka and this has contributed greatly in the increase of typhoid and diarrhoea in the area,” Mr Malubuwa said.
Hospital staff have informed the people to boil water from these rivers before they drink or use it.
